If you ask anyone what they hear of when you say ‘Lancaster’, majority of the time they will say Amish. That stereotype is slowly dying. Sure there are many Amish communities in Lancaster County, but that takes up only a chunk of what Lancaster is about. Lancaster City is a beautiful city that is rapidly evolving. Lancaster city does not resemble the Amish communities that surround it.

The city of Lancaster is a quaint little place to shop at local businesses, get coffee at a cozy coffee shop, and eat at small restaurants. There are also many art galleries around town.

The Amtrak train station is in close proximity as well. This is convenient for those coming to visit our little town. Steps away from the train station, is Gallery Row. Gallery Row is about 4 blocks long and it surrounds North Prince Street. This is a great way to get to know and see local artists’ and their work.

A lot of people would argue though, that the food is the best thing about Lancaster City. There are so many local restaurants that have a range of atmospheres. Annie Bailey’s Irish Pub and Restaurant is Lancaster’s only authentic Irish Pub. The Federal Taphouse is known for their pizzas and the 100 beers that they have on tap. The Horse Inn is the oldest running restaurant in Lancaster. If you have a sweet tooth, Lancaster Sweet Shoppe  is the place to go. They have homemade Stroopies, which is a Dutch waffle with caramel in the middle, as well as chocolates, and ice cream. Rachel’s Café and Creperie have so many crepes to choose from. They have Breakfast crepes, specialty crepes, and dessert crepes. There are many more places downtown to eat that are fabulous. How many local restaurants can you visit?

Lancaster County is a fabulous place to live. If you are a City person, then Lancaster City might be perfect for you. You get the city environment with not as big of a crowd. If you are not a city person, there are surrounding suburbs that will be perfect for you. The city is close for you to access and visit the local businesses.
