The 7th annual Lancaster Santa Stumble is this Saturday, December 10th. If you have never heard of this local holiday event, you still have time to join. The Santa Stumble benefits the Lancaster City Police Department Mounted Unit and K9’s. To date, $48,000 has been raised to benefit our local animals that protect our city. Here is a little information about our local Mounted Unit and K9’s.

A lot of people underestimate the power these animals have. There are a total of 4 horses that are a part of the Mounted Unit. The horses are used for the downtown business unit and surrounding neighborhoods by providing a highly visible presence to deter crime. The officers that ride the horses, have the same responsibilities and duties as other patrol officers. It has been proven to be beneficial to use these animals for crowd control and traffic control.

Did you know that the dogs that are a part of the K9 unit are considered actual officers and have their own badges? These dogs provide visual support to the officers as they perform their duties. They are an important component when detecting and preventing crime. They also assist with defusing potentially dangerous situations.

The Santa Stumble is for 21+ year olds only! This event runs from 4 p.m. – midnight. Dress as Santa or your favorite holiday character and visit downtown bars. All proceeds will benefit the LCPD Mounted Unit and K9’s.

The general admission donation is $10. You will get a stumble collectors all access pin. All participating bars will have a poster in their window with a picture of the pin. These participating bars, will allow you in with the pin without any cover charge.
